Jill Kramer

The dictionary defines a CHIMERA as a mythological beast with a lions head, a goat’s body and a serpent’s tail.  In essence, a creature made up of many different and distinct parts.  The same idea can be applied to the work that is created in Jill Kramer’s studio.  This includes, prints, books, letterpress and most recently, works on fabric.  All parts of a greater whole.

Jill Kramer is a printmaker based in the Chicagoland area.  She received her B.F.A. in printmaking from Kent State University.  She is currently enrolled in the MA in Art Education Program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  The majority of her work consists of black and white block prints that are hand colored after printing.  She is a member of The Chicago Printmakers Collaborative and The Illinois Artisan Program.  Her work has been exhibited in Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Texas and Maine.
